Help Us Find You

"Remember to Install and Check Your Smoke Alarms"

When Every Second Counts, Will Emergency Personnel Be Able To Find You?

Posting your numbers: Find the ideal spot on your house for your numbers, taking these main points into account: line of sight, foliage, contrast, legible type, and night visibility. Select numbers that are bold and easy to read. The numbers must be at least three inches high for residents and four inches high for businesses, according to Spartanburg County Ordinance Number 357. They may be larger if you wish. Make sure they are of a contrasting color from their background so that they will show up clearly. Trim any vines or branches away from your numbers. Always keep your numbers well maintained. Remember -- Visibility is the key.

To assure speedy address identification. Make sure that your number is clearly posted. Know your neighborhood. Make a map of your neighbors' numbers and write down accurate directions to your street. Keep this information and your own address near the phone. This will help you to give clear directions under stress if you have to call 9-1-1 for an emergency. If possible, have someone standing at the curb or at your driveway to guide the emergency vehicles.

Walk or ride through your neighborhood paying particular attention to posted addresses and street name signs.
