Ranger is a black Labrador Retriever. His owner and trainer is Roger Means. Roger acquired Ranger as a puppy and started his training as an Accelerant Detection K-9 in May of 2000. Ranger was certified in October of 2000 using the ATF K-9 Certification Test. Roger and Ranger train everyday. Ranger is trained to work for his food. He alerts by sitting and pointing with his nose to the area where the accelerants are detected. The team works with local Fire and Police and also with S.L.E.D. (SC State Law Enforcement Division).
