Part-Time Program
*The North Spartanburg Fire District is not accepting applications for Part-Time employment at this time.
The North Spartanburg Fire District utilizes a part time staffing program to supplement daily staffing needs. Part time employees are hourly employees that do not earn benefits. Part time employees are required to submit their availability via scheduling software no later than the third Monday for the following month. The schedule will be posted when complete, once posted any compensated employee can sign up for open dates. Full time staff will be limited to the number of days that keeps them under the 212 hour threshold. Any part time employee that does not work within a three (3) month period is automatically removed from the part time list. Part Time Permanent employees are assigned to a particular shift and fill that rotation.
Fire District Daily Operations:
Each shift starts at 0745 hrs. This is the time that all personnel are in uniform as required and are conducting pre shift debriefing and assignments. All personnel are required to be out of bed at 0715 and out of the bunk room and ready for shift transfers at 0730. When your apparatus assignments are given, place your PPE in your riding position.
Personnel on shift have areas of responsibility ranging from Building and Grounds to Inspections. This however does not mean you are not required to complete tasks in the areas. It is the responsibility of the shift officers to determine the level of tasks and the knowledge of the duties. After apparatus checks are completed the shift completes weekly assigned duties. After these are completed the duty officer will make other assignments for the day. If no assignments are given check with shift personnel to see what assistance is needed or what tasks need to be completed.
It is the goal of every employee to maintain the stations and apparatus at a level of readiness and a level of pride.
Cleaning Duties:
Cleaning duties are completed and shared by all shift employees.
The daily cleaning duties include but not limited to the flowing items.
- Restrooms

- Living and Administrations areas.
When and what areas required to be cleaned are listed on the shift calendar and are at the discretions of the on duty officer.
Apparatus:
All apparatus will be inspected and checked each day. Make sure to complete necessary paperwork and turn in to supervisor. The weekly apparatus checks are listed on the on time calendar and in the general offices area. When completing weekly apparatus checks refer to the Weekly Apparatus Form. This form is to be completed and returned to the on duty officer for processing. Each employee is responsible for making sure that all apparatus and equipment are maintained at a level of readiness and any safety items, damages or other issues are reported and documented as required in the policy manual. If an unsafe situation is found, immediate action should be taken to make sure the problem is not dangerous to others, and should be repaired if applicable.
