Red Flag Alert - Fire Alert - Burning Ban

The North Spartanburg Fire District was created on April 20, 1964. At that time the Fire District was allowed up to a 4 mill tax to operate. On November 2, 1976 a referendum was held to increase the millage to 16. Since that time the Fire District has employed full time personnel, lowered the insurance rating to an ISO class 4, added 2 more stations to cover the 38 square mile district, started a paramedic level first response, and other benefits for the citizens of the Fire District. On November 6, 2001 a referendum was held and the millage was increased to 22. A referendum was held on November 7, 2006 and the millage was increased to 31.
